SUSIE SILVER grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended the New York State College of Ceramics within Alfred University in Alfred, New York where she earned her BFA in 2002. While attending Alfred University, she also earned a Minor in Art History and Art Education. Susie has furthered her studies at Studio Arts International in Florence, Italy and Penland School of Crafts, NC. Susie is a contemporary painter working out of a studio in her home. She is currently in her sixteenth year as a Visual Art teacher at Cary High School. She earned her National Board teaching certification in 2010. Susie also owns and operates Locally Made Market and sits on the Board of Directors for Cary Visual Art. Susie currently resides in Cary, North Carolina with her spouse and two sons. Her goal is to give her viewers a pervasive sense of calm and to offer a moment of escape from our everyday “noise” when they engage with her work.
