VICTORIA TURNER POWERS has exhibited professionally since 1988, and is a multimedia artist, who has worked, and continues to work in a variety of new media, and to experiment using new techniques with old media. Primarily, she is a painter and is particularly interested in the use of color in her work. She has painted large abstract acrylics, impressionistic style paintings in oil, realistic style works in watercolor, and alcohol ink paint on a variety of surfaces. She has also worked in other diverse media such as handmade paper, weaving, felting, foil relief etchings, and recycle art, sculpture, mixed media, and black and white 35 mm film photography. Working with abstraction in oil paint, and then once again in acrylic on canvas, are more recent concentrations for her. Powers graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in art education and fine art as a painting major. She is a national board certified art educator and works and teaches private and small group lessons from her home studio in Raleigh, North Carolina. Victoria is also a professional musician and performs locally in a band called The Boomers!
