Tessa Dahlmann is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a BA in Art, concentration in painting. Tessa is an oil painter working primarily with self-portraiture and is greatly influenced by traditional Indian textile patterns and Indian miniature paintings, as seen in her works Masala Dubba and Miniature III.
Her work focuses on decoding the complex relationship between herself and her own cultural identity: half Indian and half White. Through her work she embraces her South Asian Indian culture while also recognizing her place as one rooted in two different communities.
