VIELKA BARBER is an emerging Jamaican American painter and multidisciplinary creator based in Raleigh, NC. Drawing inspiration from nature, still life, family, and meaningful experiences, her work explores a personal interpretation of the world, translating everyday moments into thoughtful visual narratives. Her practice highlights subtle details, mood, and storytelling through layered compositions.

By day, she works as a Superintendent; by night, she cultivates an evolving creative practice that reflects how she sees and feels the world. Since 2022, she has contributed to community murals, volunteered with Raleigh Arts, and engaged audiences through live painting. Her work also includes portrait painting, notably for WNBA athlete A’ja Wilson, as well as sculptural forms such as belly casting. Through her paintings, she aims to capture moments that are both personal and relatable, offering viewers a space for reflection and connection.
