VERA WEINFIELD (b. 1992) is a multidisciplinary artist based in North Carolina and New York. Born and raised in Indiana, Vera graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with a BFA in painting in 2014 and received her MFA at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2024. Vera has collaborated with the Greensboro Mural Project, in Greensboro, NC and worked for several years as a community artist with Los Muralistas de El Puente, an intergenerational mural collective based in Brooklyn, NY. She has shown her work most recently at the Ackland Museum of Art, CAM Raleigh, and the Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg, Austria. Vera attended the SOMA summer residency in Tlaxcala, Mexico in 2023 and was the recipient of the AAF/Seebacher Prize for Fine Art in 2024. In collaboration with other artists and within her individual art practice, Vera invents mythical, political, and psychological narratives that investigate the slippages between fact and fiction, ‘good’ and ‘evil,’ Jew and Gentile, man and woman, animal and human, victim and oppressor.
