Summer Art Program FAQs

How early can I drop off my child in the morning?

Doors will open at 8:30am for morning session drop-offs.

Where do I park during drop-off and pick-up?

The loading zone in front of our building is designated for student drop-off and pick-up during the summer. Parents/guardians are required to bring their child into the Artspace lobby daily before class to sign them in. Curbside drop-off in front of the building or across the street is not allowed unless a student is and 14+ approved for self-check in.

There is also 2-hour free street parking available on Davie Street and 2-hour free parking in the City Center Deck and Blount Street Deck.

Please be courteous when using the loading zone and move your car as soon as you have dropped off or picked up your child.

Are supplies provided for the workshops that I sign up for?

Unless otherwise stated in course descriptions, all supplies will be provided to participants who sign up for our summer program sessions.

Which age groups does your program serve?

Artspace’s Summer Art Program has a wide range of classes serving young artists from rising grades 1-12. We have four categories of grade ranges, grades 1st-3rd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th.

What if my student falls in between two grade categories?

If your student falls in between two grade categories, they can be registered for workshops in either grade category. For example, a current 3rd grader who will be in 4th grade in the fall may be registered for workshops in grade levels 1st-3rd or 3rd-5th. The same is true for 5th graders going into 6th grade or 8th graders going into 9th grade. We ask parents to consider their student’s level of comfort in being among the youngest or oldest in their class prior to making a decision. This accommodation applies only to students in between grade levels among our grade categories. Any registrations made for students who are not in the correct grade category will be canceled. (i.e. a 1st grader who was registered into our 3rd-5th camp will be canceled.)

Does Artspace Summer Art Program provide lunch?

Artspace, in partnership with a  Place at the Table, will provide healthy + free lunches to all of our full day scholarship students during our summer programing. Non-scholarship students will have the option to order lunch from our vendor. Vegetarian options are available.

How should my child dress for summer workshops?

Throughout the summer our students will be engaging in hands-on art activities which could lead to some messy outcomes. Make sure your child is dressed in clothing that one wouldn’t mind getting messy in, while making sure to also dress comfortably for warmer weather. We do have air conditioning in our building so perhaps packing a light sweater could be necessary for your child. For everyone’s safety, close-toed shoes are preferred.

Will my child be outside during the workshop?

Artspace is located at the epicenter of an educational, cultural and entertainment hub with multiple options within walking distance. Instructors may choose to make use of these resources as part of their curriculum. With sufficient time and communication, instructors will inform and obtain permission from parents if they choose to venture outside Artspace. For specific questions regarding this, please contact Danny Peña at dpena@artspace.org
