Rani Ray is a watercolor artist from Cary, NC and a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. Inspired by the bustling art and aesthetic of her hometown Calcutta in India, Ray’s interest in watercolor started at a young age.
Ray is enthralled with watercolors, to see how it works its magic on paper. Using watercolors with loose brushstrokes she tries to paint the delicate interaction between light and shade in her compositions to lead viewers into the story, to connect with the emotion that she felt in that one moment. “What I’ve discovered is that once the initial spark of inspiration hits and the sketch begins, the artwork starts to chart its own course, leading to an outcome that is almost always rewarding. It’s a valuable lesson in the art of letting go!”
