SHAKIRA SHIPMAN, also known as Sleepy Girl, is a dreamy artist from Middle of Nowhere, NC who enjoys painting the beauty of the natural world and carefree women existing beautifully in it. Most of Shipman’s art comes from her dreams (her waking and sleeping ones) and is created using a variety of media, from acrylic and oil paints to colored pencils and markers. With her works, she typically paints her backgrounds with acrylics and the main subjects with oils. Works usually feature nature, space, and women, as she enjoys capturing different skin tones. Shipman has over ten years of experience as an artist and is self taught. She has completed countless commissions and murals, participated in many art shows, and exhibited her original works in galleries and businesses throughout the US.
