COLLEEN BEE makes figurative sculptures that take the form of art dolls. Colleen learned to sew as a teenager and instantly took to this form of expression. Inspired by the work of all the women that sewed before her, she uses humble materials, and discarded fabrics and “mends” them into a piece of work that is worthy of space in a chaotic world.
She graduated from the Columbus College of Art in 1990. She’s been living and working in North Carolina for the past 16 years, she lives with her husband and two teenagers.
