PAULA BAUMANN works primarily in textiles including wired sculptural constructions and prints to explore high-risk conditions of nature and society. Her most recent solo exhibition, Slip into the Sea: Interpretive Sculptures, at the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati centered on the fleeting beauty of tidal and coral reef creatures. Baumann’s dimensional silk works are exhibited throughout the country including Edge a group show at The Fitton Center in Hamilton, Ohio and Hard and Soft in Denton, Texas. The Xavier University art collections include her surface design piece, Tolerance Is Too Thin from a juried exhibition exploring the multicultural expression of faith. Baumann received her BFA from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH with a dual concentration in fiber art and art history. The solo exhibition for her senior thesis, Green Textures, included a study of natural dyes on silk for which she was a Cincinnati Women’s Club scholarship recipient.
