Debbie Robbins
Painting // Raleigh
Debbie Robbins’s background is in interior design, which gives her art a strong sense of design and color. Debbie sees art everywhere she goes. She loves to travel and feels energized to create in everything she encounters, from ceilings in industrial buildings, manufacturing spaces to parks and cities.
Though Debbie did not begin painting until she became an empty nester, her experimental nature has allowed her to quickly catch up. She has fallen in love with varied mediums of artistic expression. She feels most comfortable with acrylics, her primary medium. The fast drying time of the medium allows Debbie to experiment with layers and textures using various gel mediums in her work. She continues to experiment with other mediums, encaustics, watercolor, and charcoal.
Debbie’s work ranges from intimate scenes to large abstract paintings. Her abstract painting practice allows her to experiment with materials to build texture and explore new colors, which then enriches all of her work.
Debbie received her B.A. in Interior Design from UNC-G. She is a former board member for Visual Art Exchange, a member of Raleigh Fine Arts Society, and a board member for the UNC REX Cancer Center on the art committee. She has begun selling and showing her art in many venues, including 311 Gallery in downtown Raleigh and local restaurant, Mandolin.
