Nora Phillips is a painter and fiber artist living in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina.
She was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After living and working in Argentina and Columbia, Phillips moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California, where she pursued her interests in contemporary quilting and textile design.
In 1995, Phillips relocated to Raleigh with a strong desire to establish her artistic career in fiber design and quilting. Initially, she dedicated herself to learning the many techniques of fiber painting. She has taught quilting and fabric manipulation classes and her textile works have been exhibited throughout the Triangle. Phillips is also interested in painting, and has exhibited her paintings in local Triangle galleries.
Phillips was a Community Artist-in-Residence at Artspace from January through March 2013. Recent accomplishments include participating in the Durham Art Guild’s 58th juried art show, and the juried exhibition, Scapes in the Suntrust Gallery in Durham.
