Marnie J. Blum was born in California but has traveled the country extensively finally landing in NC in 2008. She is an emerging mixed media artist who is inspired by the human experience. Her work is a close encounter with one’s innermost voice: our deepest desire for connection, the reality of separation, and the undying hope of our spirit. She is driven by a need to make sense of this inner monologue. Marnie’s pictorial stories become universal – transcending gender, age, and ethnicity – through abstraction and symbolism. She often incorporates silhouettes to focus on human similarities rather than individual differences. She has had several solo exhibitions in 2014, and is currently a Featured Artist with Manhattan Arts International. She was selected for the SCIENCE fair juried exhibition, and will be a featured artist at VAE in early 2015. Blum’s work has been featured in Incite, Dreams Realized: The Best of Mixed Media (North Light Books, 2013) and Incite II, Color Passions: The Best of Mixed Media (North Light Books, 2014). Three of her pieces were also featured in the #seemetakeover in Times Square, NY in the summer of 2014. She has received Special Recognition and Special Merit for four of her works by Light Space & Time.
