Mark Wightman began his career as an Artist and Designer when he was accepted to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1987. He made the decision to pursue a career as an Art Director, and Graphic Designer, and did not finish his degree at that time. In 2014, he returned to Chicago to complete his BFA at SAIC. Wightman’s current body of work is about the continuity between past and present political and social issues. By using classical sculpture and/or a mix of traditional painting techniques as the subject matter for his work, his objective has been to listen to an echo of from the past and amplify it into a contemporary conversation. Wightman is now focused on his work as a Fine Artist in Raleigh North Carolina and is seeking an MFA program to further his artistic development.
