Erin Stesch

Raleigh, NC

Erin Stesch has lived in North Carolina for most of her life, growing up in Greenville, NC. She attended East Carolina University and graduated in 1994 with a BFA in Sculpture. In Greensboro, she worked with disabled adults using art as therapy and it changed her whole perspective on the importance of the arts and how it can be used as a therapeutic tool. With that in mind, Erin started teaching high school in 2000 and continues to teach today in Wake County Schools. She is in her 17th year of teaching, earning her National Board Certification in 2009. Over the years, she has fallen in love with painting and mixed media as her media of choice. The images in her paintings are a result of letting her subconscious memories run free.  The textures and layers in her paintings serve the purpose of creating a sensory response before an intellectual response. She seeks dreamscapes in her mind that link us as members of humanity.
