Buffy Taylor

Raleigh, NC

Buffy Taylor is an emerging artist with an affinity for the visual arts. Some of her fondest girlhood memories include making paper doll or barbie doll outfits as well as other creative activities like making her own halloween costumes or drawing. Whenever she could use her imagination she was happiest. It’s no wonder her favorite classes in high school were art and photography.

In college, she pursued a BA majoring in Communication Arts with a concentration in Visual Communications and a minor in Art Studio at Framingham State University from 2009 – 2014. In 2012, she studied abroad for a semester at Griffith University Queensland College of Art, South Bank in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

During and after college she worked as a photographer and graphic designer. Just before moving to Raleigh in April 2016 she attended a few social paint nights with family & friends and rediscovered her love for painting but wanted her work to have deeper meaning.

After moving to Raleigh, Taylor began painting more seriously and taking professional development workshops in the Raleigh and Durham areas. She is just beginning to find her place in this wonderfully creative world she finds herself in. After some experimentation she has found a few styles that speak to her, and she hopes, speaks to other viewers of her work.

Her current favorite styles are: abstracts, mixed media, intuitive, and encaustic painting. But she still has her standby favorites from college days: charcoal life drawing and mass gesture drawings that are the inspiration for a new series of abstracts and mixed-media creations she is currently working on.
