Students will learn the history and fundamentals of paper cutting through the use of scissors and an exacto knife. Students will explore different styles of paper cutting and learn how to create a personalized paper portrait complete with a paper frame.

Create and develop your own comic book characters! Using techniques such as pen and ink, watercolor, collage, and book binding, students will learn how to use shading, speech bubbles, and story lines to design their own mini comic book.

Learn to use the medium of watercolor in a variety of traditional and non traditional methods. Students will learn about color theory and mixing to create their own color palettes and paintings that explore a variety of subject matter from animals to landscapes.

Create a fantasy world and populate it with your own original characters! This class will teach students how to look at the natural world for inspiration for the supernatural, explore folklore and legends, and think creatively when designing and drawing characters.

Through discussion and demos, students will come away with an understanding of symbols, archetypes, identities, and self-portraiture. Through the act of drawing students will learn the basic understanding of facial proportions and features by creating various sketches and one 18×24″ self-portrait, which will include rendered symbols chosen as personal to them.
