Big Animal Sculpture    
Grades 3rd-5th

Bring the animals of your imagination to life! Students will build large scale-animal sculpture using newspaper, masking tape, cardboard, plaster and acrylic paint. Subjects can include pets, wild animals or fantasy animals.

Printmaking: Colorful Multiples     
Grades 7th-10th
Instructor: Susan Soper

Design your own printing blocks using linoleum, Pronto and waterless lithography plates. Students will learn how to do kitchen lithography using aluminum foil plates and cola. Learn how you can turn your drawings into exciting, colorful multiples!

Painting & Drawing: Nature Sketchbook          
Grades 3rd-5th

Learn to draw and paint forest animals, trees, and plants. The class will make a special trip to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences to study and sketch forest creatures. After spending time drawing in your personal sketchbook, you will use acrylic paint, watercolor, and oil pastels to develop finished works of art depicting forest animals and landscapes.

Examine the connection between art and foot-wear throughout the centuries. Students will utilize painting, collage, sculpture and stenciling techniques to create original designs and modifications of existing footwear. This course is a great introduction into the concepts and techniques currently used in the fashion industry. The style of the shoe depends on you!
