Outdoor Classes


Fresh air and artmaking! Join us for an outdoor socially distanced art class. Artspace is partnering with some of our favorite parks and outdoor spaces to provide you with an opportunity to get creative!

For your safety

  • All instructors, staff, and students are required to wear a mask.
  • Disposable masks and hand sanitizer will be made available.
  • We ask that instructors, staff and students practice social distancing, maintaining six feet of separation.
  • Class size will be kept at a max of 10 students.
  • Art materials will not be shared. Students will be responsible for purchasing or gathering supplies from home for outdoor classes unless otherwise indicated in the class description.

Indigo Dyeing with Taylor McGee - Sold Out

ages 16+

Discover the magic of Indigo dye in this hands-on workshop. Learn how a vat is made and the materials you need to dye and upcycle on your own. Through demonstration and sampling you will learn how to create surface designs using various Shibori resist-dyeing techniques. Students will receive a pack of materials to dye during the class (including a tote bag!) with an informational page that will review techniques, vat recipe, care, sourcing materials, and ideas for exploring more on your own!

Taylor McGee is an artist and art educator in Raleigh, NC. She works as the Education Coordinator at Artspace in downtown Raleigh and as a teaching artist. Taylor earned a BA of Arts Education with a minor in Studio Art from Meredith College where she discovered her love for fiber arts and weaving. She has furthered her education and studio practice at Penland School of Craft and as Meredith College’s 2019 MASS Grant recipient. Her work has been featured in multiple group exhibitions including shows at The North Carolina Museum of Art and local galleries. Taylor is currently an Artist-in-Residence at Meredith College where she is exploring sculpture and weaving!

Family Class

Create a collaborative family photogram using found natural objects. A photogram is a picture produced with photographic materials, such as light-sensitive paper, but without the use of a camera. Learn about this photographic printing process which produces a cyan blue print and leave with a one of a kind tapestry.       

The cost of the class covers up to four participants working together on one photogram.

Cancellation + Refunds

Inclement Weather:

In the case of inclement weather an alternative date for the class will be scheduled. If a student is unable to attend the offered date a full refund for the class will be issued.

If Artspace cancels a class:

Artspace reserves the right to cancel a class at least 10 days prior to the start date if minimum enrollment is not met. If we cancel a class you will receive a full refund.

If you cancel enrollment:

30 or more days prior to the start date, you will receive a full refund of class cost. At least 15 calendar days prior to the start date, you will receive a 50% refund of class cost. No refund will be given for cancellations less than 15 calendar days before the start of any class.
