After graduating high school, Postell served his country as a member of the US Air Force. Five years after serving in the Gulf War he began a life-changing journey, enrolling at East Carolina University at the age of 28. After obtaining his BFA in 1999, Postell attended the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art, MD, where he earned an MFA in 2001. Postell currently resides in Knightdale, NC.
