FRESH Artist Profile: Christer Berg

FRESH Feature

Find out more about Christer Berg, one of 27 artists juried into the FRESH exhibition at Artspace.

Christer Berg is a professional photographer residing in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born in Sweden, he has lived in North Carolina since 1995.

While starting photographing in his teens, his passion for photography lay dormant for many years (college, career, family building, … to precedence) and it wasn’t until only a few years ago he again picked up the camera to photograph with more focus and ambition.

His photographic focus is on people, music, places, events and subjects that exhibit passion, conveys emotion or invokes thought.

Christer has been published in numerous publications, such as in photographic magazines, newspapers, news magazines, and in other printed media and online. He has received numerous awards at juried photographic exhibitions and shows across the United States.

He sees it as his mission to capture and convey the emotion and personality of his subjects, be it a person, a landscape, a live music concert or other situation.

The breadth of his photographic work provides a broad context and an important opportunity to through photography explore many different topics, emotions and subjects.

Furthermore, photographing in many different types of situations – for example the vast difference between working in a photographic studio setting where everything can be controlled to a music concert where he as the photographer control very little – provides him with exciting opportunities to both refine his craft and to “cross-pollinate” photographic techniques between many different subject matters.
