Artspace Summer Arts Program Teaching Artist: Robin Harper

Spotlight on Artspace’s Teaching Artists

At the Artspace Summer Arts Program, each class is taught by creative, fun and talented artists. Follow along as they tell you a bit more about who they are and what they do.

Find out more about Robin Harper,  who is teaching two Saturday classes (one adult and one child) at the Artspace Summer Arts Program this summer.

me @ ATD1) When did you know you wanted to be an artist when you grew up?

I always knew I wanted to be an artist, along with being a ballerina and a large animal vet. (Only one of those came true.) I remember finding an old-timey bottle with a cork in it, and stuffing in my own message: “I am an artist!” I’m not sure who I thought was going to read it.

2) What inspires you most about being a teaching artist?

I love teaching because it is so much fun to see people get excited over what I’m passionate about, and to see people discovering it for the first time. I also get lots of great ideas from my students–they are always showing me new ways to see the thing I am teaching.

3) What is your favorite thing about teaching at Artspace? What are you most excited about this summer?

I’m really looking forward to teaching my first classes at Artspace!Stamp & Button Journal
