In my abstract paintings, my artistic concerns are predominantly formal. I am searching for novel ways to depict forms in dynamic yet ambiguous spaces.

Chieko Murasugi was born in Tokyo, educated in Canada, and lived in San Francisco for 20 years before moving to the Triangle in 2012. She is trained both as a scientist and artist. She maintains a full-time art practice at Golden Belt in Durham, and exhibits her paintings nationally.

Fun Fact!

Chieko has a pet cockatiel called Champie, aka Champagne.
